Bookouture Christmas: One Wish in Manhattan, by Mandy Baggot

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… to fall in love!

one wish in manhattan

The temperature is dropping, snow is on its way and Hayley Walker is heading for New York with one wish on her mind…to start over.

With her nine year-old daughter Angel, Hayley is ready for an adventure. From hot chocolates and horse-drawn carriage rides in Central Park, to ice-skating at the Rockefeller Centre, and Christmas shopping on 5th Avenue – they soon fall in love with the city that never sleeps.

But there’s more to New York than the bright twinkly lights and breathtaking skyscrapers. Angel has a Christmas wish of her own – to find her real dad.

While Hayley tries to fufil her daughter’s wish, she crosses paths with Billionaire Oliver Drummond. Restless and bored with fast living, there’s something intriguing about him that has Hayley hooked.

Determined to make her daughter’s dream come true, can Hayley dare to think her own dreams might turn into reality – could A New York Christmas turn into a New York Forever?

Travel to the Big Apple this Christmas and join Hayley and Oliver as they both realise that life isn’t just about filling the minutes…it’s about making every moment count.

Christmas has come early this year, as we celebrate Bookouture Christmas in October! I’ve been feeling super festive all month with all fabulous Christmas releases coming out, but Bookouture are definitely hogging the limelight with their amazing selection this year!

Mandy’s One Wish in Manhattan is my first review for this feature, and it was a great book to start on! I fell in love with Mandy’s writing (and her heroes!) when I read Truly Madly Greekly this summer, and her Christmas book had me falling head over heels all over again. And let’s be honest, where better to fall in love at Christmas time than New York City?

When Hayley Walker overhears her nine year old daughters prayers to God and Santa to find her father, her heart breaks, and she makes a vow to track him down. However, as Angel is the result of a one night stand in New York ten years ago, and all Hayley knows of the father is that he’s an artist named Michel, this will be no easy task!

With Christmas soon approaching, Hayley whisks Angel away to stay with her uncle in New York, all the while secretly planning her mission to find Michel.

Angel was the first character I fell in love with in this book. She’s incredibly smart, sweet and quirky, and the relationship between her and Hayley was wonderful to behold.

Shortly after arriving in New York, Hayley meets Oliver Drummond, multi-millionaire and Dean’s boss (and total hunk!), and their paths seem to continue to cross.

Oliver is used to making women’s dreams come true, but he’s used to the women he usually socialises with having very flippant and frivolous wishes – dinner here, a jet plane there – certainly nothing like the depth of Hayley’s wish; to find her daughters father.

Oliver doesn’t do relationships or attachments, and Hayley certainly comes with baggage, but the chemistry between them is charged high from the get go.

On different paths and from different worlds, I loved reading the this story as their loves started to intertwine, though they both battled it.

This beautiful festive book offers so much more than just a love story, and had me absolutely enraptured from the very start. So much happens in this book though it never felt too much, it simply kept me begging for more and begging for answers.

One Wish in Manhattan is an absolute treasure of a book, so make sure it’s top of your wish list this Christmas.
